DBT Intensive Therapy for Adolescents and their Families

If it feels like weekly 50-minute therapy has not been enough to help you or your child live the life you want, then this program may be for you.

A virtual, skills-based DBT program for teens and their families who need more than weekly therapy—built with flexibility for real life.

Who It’s For

Teens (ages 14–17) and their caregivers seeking support with:

  • Intense emotions or frequent mood swings

  • Anxiety or depression not improving with weekly therapy

  • Impulsive behaviors or self-sabotage

  • Trouble communicating or setting boundaries

  • Constant conflict with family or friends

This intensive offering is ideal for teens and their families seeking a more immersive approach to building lasting skills to navigate distress and strengthen relationships.

How We Help

Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), this program builds real-world skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and make better decisions, so teens can feel more in control and hopeful about the future and their families can have the tools to best support them.

Participants in Well Equipped Teen Receive:

  • Weekly DBT Skills Group for teens and caregivers together

  • Family Therapy Sessions centered on DBT principles

  • Weekly Individual DBT Therapy for teens

  • Access to DBT phone coaching for both teens and caregivers outside of session hours.

  • This program is ideal for families seeking a collaborative, skills-based approach to emotional regulation, communication, and crisis management.

When weekly therapy isn’t enough, this intensive offers the extra support needed to make real change.

The skills

  • Do you struggle asking for what you want, setting boundaries, repairing relationships that are worth repairing, or do you just want to get better at communicating? DBT has a skill for that.

  • These skills help you know what you’re feeling (sometimes that can be confusing, amirite?). They’ll also help you act in your best interest (even when you feel like saying f it), and cultivate more good vibes (and who couldn’t use more good vibes?).

  • Ever feel like everything is out of control and nothing is ok? Maybe you’ve even ended up hurting yourself or doing something you really wish you hadn’t. Distress tolerance skills help you find possibility when everything seems hopeless.

  • Mindfulness skills help you cultivate a more mindful and accepting way of relating to yourself and the world. With practice, mindfulness can become a valuable tool for reducing emotional reactivity, enhancing self-awareness, and fostering a sense of calm, and balance.

You may have already heard of DBT, or even know some of the skills, but this program is designed to support both those new to DBT and those who could benefit from deeper support, structure, or a meaningful refresher.

how is

Well Equipped For Adolescents

different?

For starters, Well Equipped For Adolescents is a

DBT ADHERENT PROGRAM

We’re not talking just learning about skills, folks.

DBT adherent treatment consists of four components:

  • Family Skills Training:
At Well Equipped Teen, teens and caregivers participate in weekly DBT group and DBT based family therapy sessions. We’ll do a deep dive and teach you specific tactics to manage emotions, cope with stress, and improve relationships.

  • Teen Individual attention:
During weekly one-on-one therapy sessions with a DBT trained therapist, Teens will focus on identifying and addressing specific challenges with new skills and perspective.

  • In the moment coaching:
Teens and caregivers will have access to a DBT therapist in between sessions, to provide support and guidance during times of crisis or when you’re struggling with a specific issue.

  • Consultation team:
Know that your therapist is giving you the most effective treatment possible. They attend consultation team meetings to receive ongoing support and guidance from a DBT certified trainer.

These components work together to provide a

comprehensive and individualized approach to treatment.

You are the sky. Everything else—it’s just the weather.
